Snow Play is a fun sexy fast read. Allie is a bit quirky and funny. Zach jaded but not so badly that he doesn't see Allie's worth. A great pick me up story, or lunch break read.
This is a great quick and fun read by Barbara Elsborg. There is some sex, but rather than the sex, I read this more for the plot itself.
Allie and her group of co-ed friends sign up for a skiing vacation package. However, between the time that they all sign up and the time the vacation arrives, her other friends have all hooked up with one another, leaving Allie as the odd girl out. So she decides to take a tour, gets injures, and rescued by Zach.
Zach is an Olympic skier, who is recovering from an injury. He rescues Allie, and the two start a relationship.
Plot is great because it's set against the backdrop of a vacation. So is this just a fling or what? I like that Allie isn't some pushover and that she recognizes that she needs new friends without anyone having to tell her that. Zach's character is also written well and the "drama" element that the author introduces (in the form of an ex-girlfriend) is actually just the right element of "drama" without being overdone.
I've actually re-read this short story several times. It's short enough that you can finish the whole thing in one sitting, but not so short that you feel rushed or have the sense that something was left unresolved. If the author could have added just one or two pages more, I would have loved to see Allie's "friends'" reaction to meeting Zach and realizing that he's real. Or better yet, they don't deserve to meet him. Let them find out in the society pages or tabloids or whatever.
These days, I only read MF tales by select authors, and Barbara Elsborg's a no-brainer as I'm a fan, a beta and she makes me laugh.
This tale has all the elements that I like - a female lead with a brain and a smart mouth, one who's got guts and doesn't sit and wallow or feel sorry for herself when things don't seem to be going right, a male lead with just the right amount of pushiness, some LOLs and a bit of sass and lots of smart dialogue. On top, there's an actual short tale, some decent sex and it ends in the leads looking at more than just a Valentine-ish fling.
